Hope 21

Hope 21
Oil on Wood
6"X6"

I took a little field trip around to the other side of the hill this morning to see the old homestead and an old friend, albeit at a healthy distance. The land has healed from the October 2017 firestorm. New growth is everywhere. Poppies, lupin, oaks, firs, plums, redwoods, bamboo, even wisteria have taken root again, some sprouting from burned stumps, others coming up in new locations.
Life goes on. Miraculously.
On the way home I passed the Maple Ring where a few horses grazed, oblivious to the mayhem that has us in its grasp. What a relief to see a lovely mammal just going about the business of living.
That's what I call living it up.
