Yesterday when Rosie and I returned from our morning walk, there at my door was a ceramic cup holding a polka dot paper heart that said:
"For Susan -- Mornings are more beautiful when this is full of coffee or tea. Love, Pam."
I've left the cup on the counter, a constant reminder of the power of little gestures of love and caring that cancel out all the world's ugliness in one fell swoop.
