More leaves every day. Looking up, I see a little hope embedded in every one.

It has been Grey and drizzly reflecting our mood. Pensive and patient.  We can do this. Whatever it takes.

Mother Nature is a good roll model.

The 2017 fire ravaged this hillside that had been a solid wall of fir trees. Now we can see the contour of the hill,  and I have learned to love the delicate lines created by what remains.

There is a lesson in this.

Also. The evening skies have been particularly stunning lately.

And just like that, our big oak, kissed by fire in 2917 is leafing out yet again giving us hope in this dark time.

The clouds have been dramatic, the hillsides are lush, and the birds are singing.

You would think I would paint all day.

But I am finding it hard to concentrate. 

A little painting every day is all I can do at the moment. And that seems momentous. And necessary. 

I am ever so slightly hopeful.

We are in Sonoma surrounded by Nature. It's a good place to be when it seems as if everything is falling apart. Nature carries on. Oaks that seemed lost to the 2017 fire are leafing out again, and animals are milling around munching on grasses and reproducing along with turkeys who are strutting their stuff. Birds. The birds! It all gives me hope. When panic sets in I walk outside and I am absolutely sure that something good will come of all this.

 Everything is green and mustard is blooming in the vineyards, defying the darkness and dread all around. Sonoma inspires. It is simply spectacular.
