Summer Breeze
12"X12"
Oil on Wood Panel
SOLD
Maybe memory is even better than reality. No flies. No mosquitoes. No expectations about the weather. And anticipation. That's the best of all. The month of May. It's all about the promise of what's to come. The long days. Light all around. Warmth. Being off duty.

I'm not sure this is just right. I might fix it later. These tiny paintings are a big challenge. The littlest dab of paint changes everything. Kind of like how a small shift in attitude can lift one's mood immeasurably.
But now it's lunchtime, Rosie wants to romp, and the long weekend beckons.

Gentle Breeze
Gentle Breeze
8"X8"
Oil on Wood Panel
I woke up this morning thinking about Maine. About being on the water. At the water's edge. It was windy here and I was transported to the gentle breezes that blow the boats around the islands on long summer days.
After a walk around the neighborhood, Rosie snoozed while I painted and imagined Maine. We took a noon time trip to the dog park. Rosie met some like minded young Goldens and Winston, the exuberant Wheaten puppy that is my favorite. After lunch, I finished this painting and feel like I am halfway there.

Napa Valley - Memory Lane
Napa valley
3"X2"
Oil on Wood Panel
$95 - unframed
I spent Saturday in Napa with my 8th grade class, most of whom I hadn't seen for 50 years. The amazing and wonderful thing is that the same sweet, fun, loving people I had known then are all intact, stowed away in 60 year old bodies. Aged, complex, interesting. I am reeling from the effect.

On the Run 3
6"X6"
Oil on Wood Panel
$175- unframed
This series of paintings is the result of a mistake. I thought I was taking still photographs, but it turned out the little digital camera was set on movie mode. I discovered you could stop the action frame by frame which is not only really fun to look at, but a great tool for studying how a dog moves. Can't wait to try it with other moving objects.

On the Run 2
8"X8"
Oil on Wood Panel
$200
The time will surely come when watching the dog run will cease to be visually stimulating. Clearly, that time has not yet come. Like cows in a pasture, or boats in the bay, the dog punctuates the landscape in an ever changing play of form, light, shadow, and motion. Not only that, but I love watching her run flat out.

I should have posted a "before" picture, but too late now. There are 30 fewer paintings left on the walls.
It was a great weekend.
Amy of MsEllaneous Blog stopped by and taught me a thing or two about blogging. Check her out at:

I'll be back to painting tomorrow.
